A husband has publicly confessed to the murd3r and dismemberment of his wife after a violent dispute. Gurumurthy, 45, approached the police in Hyderabad, revealing his actions toward his wife, Venkata Madhavi, 35, who had been missing since January 16.
The retired soldier recounted to the Rachakonda police that he fatally injured Madhavi by forcefully slamming her against a wall during an argument—a blow he claims resulted in her immediate d3ath.
Following this, Gurumurthy allegedly used a kitchen knife to dismember her body before resorting to boiling the remains.
He described a gruesome process where he placed the body parts in a pressure cooker for five to six hours, using a mortar and pestle to pulverize the bones after treatment.
In a disturbing detail, he is said to have disposed of the remaining flesh and ground bones into Meerpet Lake.
Authorities recovered several items from Gurumurthy’s apartment, including a pressure cooker, kitchen knives, and other tools believed to be associated with the cr!me.
Despite these efforts, forensic teams, alongside dog units, have been unable to locate any remains around the lake.
“We cannot act solely on his confession without substantial evidence. Our investigators are working diligently to compile all necessary technical and forensic proof. This case remains open,” a police spokesperson stated to The India Express.
As investigators delve deeper, they suspect that the crime emerged from a moment of intense anger rather than being premeditated.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Ch Praveen Kumar remarked, “At this point, we don’t have adequate evidence to classify this incident as planned. It appears to have stemmed from a minor disagreement.”
Gurumurthy claimed that his wife had stormed out of their home during their January 16 dispute; however, surveillance footage from the area told a different story.
CCTV records revealed Madhavi entering their home on January 15, with no sign of her leaving ever since. This contradiction prompted the police to fixate their investigation on Gurumurthy.
“We detained Gurumurthy for questioning after determining inconsistencies in his statements. Although his initial responses varied, he ultimately confessed to the murder and the subsequent disposal of her body,” remarked Inspector K Nagaraju.
Despite his admission, Gurumurthy has been released, as the investigation is still classified as a missing person case due to a lack of concrete evidence.
