South Africa’s president Cyril Ramaphosa has dismissed reports that he collapsed and was hospitalised.
Speaking to the press, Ramaphosa said he is fit as a fiddle.
“The news of my illness and the news that I was in ICU are extremely exaggerated, I’m fit as a fiddle and I had no illness whatsoever and I didn’t collapse”

Presidential spokesperson Vincent Magwenya has rubbished these claims doing the rounds on social media.
This comes after Ramaphosa failed to make an appearance during the ANC NEC(National Executive Committee) engagements in Mbombela.
Social media influencer handle @AdvoBarryRoux questioned a rumour claiming Ramaphosa is in ICU.
“He collapsed after told by the NEC to resign with immediate effect for destroying the ANC & country. He suffered a stroke and in ICU’?
Deputy President Paul Mashatile, stood in for the statesman which, according to Magwenya he rests at home and it not admitted to the Military Hospital in Pretoria.
According to Newzroom Afrika, ANC spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri said the president is attending to an unspecified emergency.
Magwenya however called the trending rumours as malicious and says the president is in good health and was never admitted to hosptial.
“The President is fine, he was never hospitalised, and there was no emergency. He attended a meeting and decided to spend the rest of the day at home ahead of a busy week”, says Magwenya.
The ANC will be celebrating the party’s 112th birthday, where the President is expected to deliver the January 8 statement
