Celebrated comedian and Tv host, Steve Harvey has quashed claims that he is after Botswana’s money stating that he is well off and has all the money in the world.
Harvey said this when giving an update about the show, Family Feud Botswana yesterday.
When President Mokgweetsi Masisi awarded Harvey the project to notch up the Tv and Film industry in Botswana, the news received mixed reactions from Batswana across social media platforms. Some accused the current government of squandering money with Steve Harvey while others questioned whether Botswana does not have enough qualified people that can spearhead the project locally.
However, the popular comedian with over 30 million followers has stated that he does not need the money and his net worth is valued around $200 million this year. “I have heard that some suspect that I am here to take away the money and I don’t blame you because people have come to Africa to just take only. But I assure you that I have got all the money, I am not here to get your money,” Harvey said.
The Family Feud host further stated that in this project, money is not at the centre of everything when it comes to him, it comes from the heart. “I am doing this because I care. As I have said, this is not all about the money and I have to say to you that you have a good leader in Masisi (Mokgweetsi) who has a great vision,” he said.
Giving an update on the shooting of the Family Feud Botswana, Harvey stated that everything is falling into place thus far. “It is a huge success already you all have smart people here in Botswana. So far, we have shot around 12 episodes and we should have 24 episodes that are an hour long,” he said.
With Batswana questioning when will the show be shot locally, Steve Harvey stated that it will be done next year once the country has the state of the art studios that can fit a show of such magnitude.
Steve Harvey explained that the deal is a three-year contract which does not include only Family Feud as they have other shows on the pipeline which include a drama series that will be titled Liar.
