Nancy Lusambo, the wife of former Lusaka province minister Bowman Lusambo, has made a stunning claim in court, saying she was completely unaware that her husband’s properties in Silverest Gardens were registered under her name.
She expressed shock and confusion, stating that she never paid for the houses nor interacted with the sellers, Henan Gouji.
The properties in question are part of a larger development project in Lusaka, Zambia, featuring modern homes with amenities like shopping malls, health centers, and recreational facilities.
The Lusambos are facing allegations of possessing four houses in Silverest Gardens, suspected to be proceeds of crime.
Nancy’s defense, presented to Lusaka magistrate Faidess Hamaundu, highlighted her lack of involvement in the acquisition process. She claimed that her husband handled all transactions, leaving her in the dark about the ownership details.
This case has sparked interest, especially given Bowman Lusambo’s history as a government minister.
Previous reports indicate that he earned a significant income during his tenure, with some sources suggesting he received close to K6 million as minister.
The couple’s legal woes continue, with the Economic and Financial Crimes Court closely examining their financial dealings.
