Arsenal head coach and manager, Mikel Arteta has revealed that he will take an active role in the search for the club’s new sporting director.
“I’m going to be very much involved in that process. We want to find the right person first of all and the right person has to be someone who is able to co-operate and make each other better and take us to a different level,” Arteta said.
This comes after Arsenal’s sporting director,Edu Gaspar revealed his plan to leave the club.
Gaspar was appointed as club’s sporting director in 2019 and he has been crucial part of the project, pivotal to rebuild the squad with Mikel Arteta. During his tenure as sporting director at the club, Edu helped Arsenal to recruit and sign key players including Declan Rice from West Ham United and Kai Harvets from Chelsea.
