IMC Communications, the sole distributor of Starlink internet services in Zimbabwe, has announced the appointment of Denny Marandure as its new Managing Director. Effective immediately, Marandure will oversee the strategic rollout and widespread adoption of Starlink services in the country, with the initial phase scheduled for the third quarter of this year.
Marandure, a former executive at ZOL, brings a wealth of experience in the telecommunications industry to his new role at IMC Communications. His leadership is expected to be pivotal as the company embarks on the aggressive deployment of Starlink’s high-speed internet services across Zimbabwe.
The appointment comes on the heels of a significant development in Zimbabwe’s telecommunications sector. President Emmerson Mnangagwa announced last month that the country’s telecom regulator has approved the licensing of Starlink, the satellite internet service operated by Elon Musk’s SpaceX. This decision paves the way for the deployment of low-Earth-orbit (LEO) internet infrastructure, promising high-speed, low-cost connectivity, particularly benefiting rural areas of Zimbabwe.
As IMC Communications gears up for this major rollout, Marandure’s appointment signifies a strategic move to ensure the successful implementation and integration of Starlink’s services in the country. With this development, Zimbabwe is poised to enhance its digital connectivity, bridging the gap between urban and rural internet access.
