The police investigation into the fatal attack revealed that the motive behind the k!lling was the victim’s persistent questions about the @tt@cker’s marital status.
According to Assistant Police Commissioner Maria Marpaung, the @tt@cker, Parlindungan Siregar, said during questioning that he was determined to beat the victim to d3ath because he was hurt by how often his neighbour asked him, in jest, why he was not married.
The incident, which took place in South Tapanuli regency, North Sumatra, on July 29, was not the first time the two neighbours had clashed.
Prior to the fatal @tt@ck, they had reportedly argued over their chickens wandering into each other’s coops.
The tension between them had been building up, and the constant questions about Siregar’s marital status had finally pushed him to the edge.

sgim tried to escape by running out to the street, but Siregar pursued him and struck him with a blow to the head. Even after Asgim fell to the ground, Siregar continued to beat him mercilessly.
It was only when residents in the area intervened that the beating was stopped, and Asgim was rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, he died on the way there. The police arrested Siregar within an hour of the @tt@ck, and he is currently being held for questioning.
Asgim’s wife provided a statement to the police, which helped to piece together the events of that fateful day.
