The Director General of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), Mr. Gilbert F. Houngbo, together with a delegation of distinguished ILO representatives have toured the Geo Pomona Waste Management site in Harare. The delegation was accompanied by the Minister of Public Service, Labour, and Social Welfare, Hon. July Moyo, along with other senior members of the ministry.
The Geo Pomona Waste Management facility is a state-of-art project focused on converting waste into energy and other reusable materials.
During the tour, the Director General Mr. Gilbert F. Houngbo commended the project for its exemplary adoption of a circular economy approach, emphasizing that such initiatives are the way forward in addressing environmental challenges.
He highlighted the significance of reusing and transforming waste to protect the environment and applauded the project’s commitment to sustainability.
