The opposition politician, Advocate Nelson Chamisa has labelled the Zimbabwe economy as trabablas which was President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa’s nickname “Trabablas” during the liberation. Chamisa singled out that the current economy situation in Zimbabwe is trabablas economy, with trabablas policies .
The prominent opposition leader, Nelson Chamisa took to his social media account X (formerly known as twitter) and wrote the following:
“IT’S ALL TRABABLAS…We are living in Trabablas times. It’s really a trabablas administration, running a trabablas economy, with trabablas policies and a trabablas currency! Especially after trabablas elections,” Chamisa wrote.
Chamisa’s mockery comes after the government announced that the Mbudzi Interchange, currently under construction in Harare, is set to be renamed the “Trabablas Interchange.”
On December 17, 2024, the announcement was made via the Ministry of Information, Publicity & Broadcasting’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, that the renaming symbolizes the government’s commitment to enhancing the nation’s transport infrastructure and facilitating economic growth.
The interchange aims to alleviate the severe traffic congestion that has long plagued the area, particularly affecting daily commuters during peak hours.
Strategically located at the convergence of Simon Mazorodze, Chitungwiza, and High Glen roads, the Mbudzi Interchange plays an essential role in managing traffic flow into Harare’s bustling city center.
