Former President Jacob Zuma is going to the Pietermaritzburg High Court today for a key pre-trial hearing in his arms deal corruption case.
After years of delays, the trial is now set to happen over six weeks between April and September next year, thanks to Judge Thoba Poyo-Dlwati.
Zuma is charged with corruption, fraud, and racketeering for allegedly taking bribes from the French arms company Thales.
His lawyers have tried to delay the trial, but the court has pushed back.

In March, Judge Nkosinathi Chili rejected Zuma’s request to remove the lead prosecutor, Billy Downer, for bias, allowing the trial to move forward.
South Africans are watching closely to see if Zuma will face trial or if his team will find more ways to delay it.
