The High Court of Zimbabwe has reserved judgment for interim leader of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) faction, Hon. Senator Jameson Timba, and other members of the #Avondale78, setting November 11, 2024, as the date.
Senator Timba and fellow party activists appeared in the Harare High Court late last week. They have been held in pre-trial detention for over 130 days since their arrest on June 16, 2024, alongside Timba’s son and other activists at his private residence in Avondale.
According to a post on the CCC’s official X account, Newsreportzim.com has reliably informed that the court has scheduled judgment for the opposition leader and others.
“Our Chief Administrator, Senator Jameson Timba, and members of the #Avondale78 have had their judgment reserved until November 11, 2024. This is purely persecution by prosecution from the Harare regime. They have spent 131 days in pre-trial detention and will now spend an additional 17 days, totaling 148 days. They are being persecuted for belonging to Zimbabwe’s authentic opposition,” the post reads.
The CCC activists were acquitted in September of a charge of disorderly conduct in a public place, leaving only a final charge of holding an unlawful gathering.
