Former Citizens Coalition for Change Vice Chairperson and Member of Parliament for Zengeza West Constituency, Job Sikhala, has rejected the criminalisation of opposition political activism in Zimbabwe.
The outspoken politician highlighted that he has been a subject of political persecution through the misuse of the judiciary in the country.
“I have been a subject of political persecution through the use of the judiciary in Zimbabwe by the despised criminal regime in Harare,” he said.
Job Sikhala’s remarkable words come after the Citizens Coalition for Change interim leader Hon. Jameson Timba and 78 others were currently denied bail by the Harare Provincial magistrate and detained for more than 30 days.
Taking to his X ( formerly known as twitter), the politician wrote the following:
“I completely reject the criminalisation of opposition political activism in Zimbabwe. I have been a subject of political persecution through the use of the judiciary in Zimbabwe by the despised criminal regime in Harare.”
“What is being done to Jameson Timba and 78 others is the perpetuation of criminalising opposition politics in Zimbabwe. I bet my last dollar that the state does not have a case sustainable at trial.”
“It should be rejected and must be confronted without fear or shame. Opposition politics is not a criminal enterprise. It is the advancement of the causes of the oppressed masses of our people.”
“Zimbabwe, in its current state, does not deserve to be part and parcel of the civilised community of nations, where impunity against anyone opposed to the regime is the order of the day @commonwealthsec, @GenevaSummit, @_AfricanUnion”
