JAILED opposition leader Job Sikhala and Chitungwiza North legislator Godfrey Sithole’s trial was postponed yesterday after the politicians’ lawyers indicated that they were busy with other cases at the High Court.
The trial had initially failed to continue following delays from the State until defence lawyers Jeremiah Bhamu, Harrison Nkomo and Oliver Marwa applied for a postponement of the trial to a later date.
Sikhala and Sithole were arrested on June 14 last year together with 14 other Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) activists from Chitungwiza’s Nyatsime area for allegedly inciting public violence.
The arrests followed the murder of CCC activist Blessing Ali by a suspected Zanu PF supporter.
Suspected Zanu PF members reportedly attacked mourners and hijacked Ali’s funeral on June 12 last year.
The matter has been postponed to October 2 for trial continuation.
