A KAMBUCHA-BREWING firm, Success Two, was on Wednesday this week hauled before the Magistrates Court in Harare for hiring refugees without work permits.
Fabian Ndayishimire, who represented Success Two, appeared separately with refugees from Rwanda and Congo who had been detained for working without authorisation.
The suspects, identified as Mukantwali Alphonsie, Masumbuko Mathias, Valentine Kabwe, Habimana Francis, and Nyendwa Faustina, appeared before magistrate Yeukai Dzuda, who set a US$50 bail bond for each of them.
Dzuda ordered that they should return to Tongogara Refugee Camp where they had escaped from.
The refugees were represented by Ashirl Mugiya.
The President’s Office, immigration department employees, and police officials allegedly detained Mukantwali on September 16 at the Success Two firm facility in Willowvale, Harare.
Mukantwali is accused of working for the business despite not having the proper documentation to be in Harare or to hold a job.
As required by law, she departed the Tongogara Refugee Camp without the knowledge of the relevant authorities.
The accomplices of Mukantwali who had also escaped from the refugee camp were also detained by the police.
