Exiled former ZANU-PF political commissar, Saviour Kasukuwere, has expressed his heartfelt cond0lences following the p@ssing of former diplomat, military commander, and Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko.
The Vice President’s de@th was confirmed by Presidential Spokesperson George Charamba on Friday.
The late Vice President p@ssed away at the age of 84 after battling an undisclosed !llness. He reportedly died while undergoing treatment in India.
Through his social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), Kasukuwere shared his tribute:
“The late VP Baba P. Mphoko. Deepest condolences to Mai Mphoko, the family, and the nation at large. A solid and sincere nationalist, diplomat, military commander, and intelligence officer has closed his eyes. He was a leader among many, fair and always ready to speak out against sneaky characters in the party. Farewell, Cde VP, you stood for the truth, and may your dear soul rest in eternal peace.”
Mphoko served as the second Vice President from 2014 until 2017, a period marked by the military coup that led to the removal of then-President Robert Mugabe and the subsequent rise of incumbent President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
