Former Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe special advisor and Bikita West legislator Munyaradzi Kereke, who has been on bail for several months, has been returned to prison to serve the remaining 20 months of his jail term.
Kereke was initially sentenced to 12 years in prison in 2013 after being found guilty of r_ping a minor. However, he was granted bail in 2015 pending the appeal of his sentence.
According to reports, Kereke’s appeal was dismissed last year, and he was ordered to return to prison to serve the remaining 20 months of his sentence.
The Police have since re-arrested him and taken him back to Chikurubi Maximum Prison in Harare, where he will begin serving his sentence.
Kereke’s case has been shrouded in controversy, with many critics accusing him of using his political connections to evade justice.
