Popular food outlet, KFC in South Africa has encountered criticism for allegedly pressuring employees to request R2 donations from customers to aid in their ‘Add Hope’ program which aims at providing meals to children in need.
The social critics have argued that Kentucky Fried Chicken(KFC) is a huge business and should be able to fund the program with their profits rather than relying on customers.
Over two months ago KFC-South Africa suffered a backlash for allegedly firing some its employees over failure to meet the R2 donations target in which the outlet hastily denied.
Some social media users and critics have suggested that KFC-SA employers must deduce customers’s financial situations by their frequency to the outlet and not rely on their donations.
According to sources all the R2 donations are alleged to be going directly to the KFC Social Responsibility Trust which oversees the distribution of all funds to NPOs across SA, to feed more than 30 million meals to underprivileged kids every year.
