The Zimbabwean Senior Women’s cricket team, the Lady Chevrons, departed from Zimbabwe on Sunday afternoon, embarking on a journey to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to take part in the Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers.
With Uganda as the other African representative in the tournament, Zimbabwe’s Lady Chevrons will be competing against some of the best women’s cricket teams from around the world, starting on April 25th.
With the highly-anticipated 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup set to take place in Bangladesh later this year, the Global Qualifiers represent the final hurdle for the Lady Chevrons and other participating teams as they strive for one of the coveted spots in the global tournament.
Zimbabwe’s team has been placed in Group B, along with formidable competitors like Vanuatu, Netherlands, Ireland, and the tournament hosts UAE.
The Global Qualifiers have become an even more crucial stage for Zimbabwe’s Lady Chevrons as the remaining two spots for the 2024 Women T20 World Cup are up for grabs.
