The Lady Chevrons secured a decisive eight-wicket victory over the United Arab Emirates in their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup qualifying match on Saturday evening. This win has reignited Zimbabwe’s campaign in the tournament and demonstrated their ability to compete at the highest level.
Newsreportzim.com has learnt about this from a post by Daily News on twitter.
The match saw Zimbabwe successfully chasing down a target of 106 runs, achieving their goal with 15.2 overs remaining. The Lady Chevrons displayed a disciplined bowling performance, restricting the UAE to 105/9 in their 20 overs.
The Lady Chevrons hope to maintain the good form when they meet familiar foes Ireland on Monday.
“The confidence is back now, I do believe we are ready for Ireland. We are going to do our homework as we have played a lot of them and we have got footage of their batters and bowlers so we just have to come up with a plan for each of them and if we execute will definitely win,” said Lady Chevrons head coach, Walter Chawaguta.
As the qualifying campaign continues, the Lady Chevrons will aim to build on this momentum and secure further victories in pursuit of a place in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
