Leaked Audio Exposes Tendai Biti

Zim De-Dollarization By BRICS Will Be An Absolute Disaster -Tendai Biti

Tendai Biti Caught in CCC Controversy After Leaked Audio
Former Finance Minister Tendai Biti has found himself in the midst of a political storm as a leaked audio recording reveals his alleged involvement in the ongoing Citizen Coalition for Change (CCC) debacle.

In a phone conversation with an unnamed CCC supporter, Biti made startling admissions regarding the leadership of the opposition party, suggesting that CCC leader Nelson Chamisa had been “expelled.”

The explosive audio leak, obtained by The Sources Media, captures Biti in a revealing conversation. According to the publication, the call occurred at 16:37, shortly after Sengezo Tshabangu appointed the former Finance Minister, co-interim President alongside Welshman Ncube, after expelling Nelson Chamisa from the party.

Biti was reportedly on another call with a CCC supporter who referred to him as “president” during this call. In the recording, Biti can be heard saying,

“Tell him that I’m going to tweet and say that I’m not the president of anything. So just tell him that I’m going to tweet just now.”

He also expressed his views on the situation, stating,

“Munhu (Chamisa) anga achapera ega. Kupera ega munhu uyu (it was only just a matter of time before this (Chamisa) person was finished. He was almost finished.”

Shortly after, Biti hung up the call to engage with The Sources Media News Agency, who were seeking his comment on the unfolding situation.

Here is the leaked audio of Tendai Biti allegedly talking to a supporter about Nelson Chamisa, saying “munhu anga achapera ega.”

Just two minutes after this phone conversation, at 16:43 as promised, Biti took to X (formerly Twitter) to post a statement distancing himself from the controversy, saying,

“I am not the President of any political party. I refuse to be drawn into this mess. May my privacy and dignity be respected.”

On October 3, Sengezo Tshabangu sent a letter to the speaker of the National Assembly, Jacob Mudenda, recalling at least 15 legislators and 12 senators, alleging that they were no longer members of CCC. In response, the Chamisa-led CCC disavowed any connection to Tshabangu.

When reached for comment, Biti initially claimed that Tshabangu was a CCC member just like him and denied any involvement in the recalls. He stated,

“No, other than that he’s a member of the CCC, I’m not working with him, I’m not involved in these and I don’t want to get involved.”

Pressed further about his relationship with Tshabangu, Biti said,

“Of course, I’m a member of the CCC. Ah, shamwari don’t ask me what I don’t know. I belong to the party led by Nelson Chamisa.”

This incident isn’t the first time Biti has clashed with his party leadership. In 2014, he left the MDC-T to form his own People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Despite his efforts, Biti failed to gain significant support for PDP and lost the Harare East constituency to Terrence Mukupe in a 2015 by-election.

However, he later reemerged in parliament during the 2018 elections under the MDC Alliance led by Chamisa.

Biti’s recent phone call and subsequent social media post have set the political stage abuzz, leaving many wondering about the true nature of his involvement in the CCC debacle and the future of the party.

The unfolding drama within CCC continues to captivate the nation’s attention, and further developments are anticipated in the coming days.
