Opposition politician Linda Masarira has publicly endorsed Temba Mliswa as the candidate for the presidency of the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) despite contradiction from his baby mama, Susan Mutami.
As the leader of the LEAD party, Masarira emphasized that Mliswa possesses the necessary qualities to lead ZIFA into a new era defined by accountability, professionalism, and growth.
Mliswa, who has served as a village head, former ZANU PF Mashonaland West chairman, and is a former Member of Parliament for Norton, has garnered praise from Masarira for his straightforward approach and extensive involvement in the sports sector.
She pointed out that his proven track record in delivering results makes him the ideal candidate to revitalize Zimbabwean football.
“Temba is a no-nonsense leader known for his direct and uncompromising style,” Masarira stated. “He is unafraid to make tough decisions—an essential trait for addressing the corruption, mismanagement, and inefficiency that have historically plagued ZIFA.”
Pindula has it that her confidence in Mliswa stems from his commitment to accountability and excellence, which she believes will foster integrity and professionalism in the association, laying a solid foundation for the future of football in Zimbabwe.

Masarira highlighted that Mliswa’s background as a fitness enthusiast and former fitness trainer equips him with the understanding necessary to nurture talent and maintain high physical standards in athletes.
His comprehensive knowledge of sports administration further enhances his capability to tackle the challenges facing football in the country.
Reflecting on Mliswa’s previous tenure as a Member of Parliament, Masarira noted his exceptional ability to deliver tangible results, citing his proactive fundraising for projects that benefitted his community.
“Whether it was advancing infrastructure or empowering youth, his hands-on approach and commitment to progress earned him the trust and respect of those he served,” she said.
“This history illustrates that Mliswa has the vision, determination, and ingenuity to instigate meaningful change within ZIFA.”
Masarira urged ZIFA councillors to “vote wisely,” asserting that Mliswa possesses the energy, vigor, and commitment to excellence needed to rejuvenate Zimbabwean football.
She added, “His blend of strong leadership, sports expertise, and results-oriented mindset makes him the perfect candidate to lead ZIFA. With him at the helm, we can restore credibility to Zimbabwean football and create a brighter future for players, fans, and stakeholders alike.”
At the same time, Mliswa’s ex-girlfriend Susan Mutami has raised concerns about his suitability for such an influential position.
Based in Australia and sharing a child, Tinotenda, with Mliswa, Mutami argued that his election could endanger female soccer players and staff due to his perceived lack of decorum. She also criticized him for his alleged failure to financially support their son, labeling him as an irresponsible father.
As the debate unfolds, the future of ZIFA hangs in the balance as councillors weigh their options for leadership.
