Real Madrid and Croatia captain, Luka Modrić has spoken after Kylian Mbappe missed a penalty in Real Madrid’s 2-0 Champions League defeat to Liverpool on Wednesday night.
The frenchman had the chance to level the game at 1-1 in the 61st minute — after Alexis Mac Allister had put Liverpool ahead but his spot kick was saved by Caoimhín Kelleher.
Speaking after the match, Luka Modric said, “We see Mbappé well, training well, with confidence”.
“Sometimes things don’t go his way, like the penalty. But I’m sure he will do what is expected of him”.
The French forward joined Real Madrid in June after his contract with Paris St-Germain expired at the end of last season. The 25-year-old forward is struggling to settle into team of superstars.
Mbappé has now scored just two goals in his past nine Real Madrid games in all competitions, and he has failed to find the net in their past four Champions League matches.
