In a shocking revelation, Prophet Walter Magaya, the leader of Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD), is under scrutiny for allegedly scamming parents through his Yadah Sports Academy.
The academy is accused of using the reputable Italian football giant Juventus’ name in a bogus youth sports program, which has left parents fuming and demanding refunds.
Juventus, known as one of the world’s biggest football clubs, has disassociated itself from the scandal orchestrated by Magaya.
The club’s official, Degortes Marco, expressed his dismay in a strongly-worded email, denouncing Magaya’s attempt to make individuals pay $20 for what he called “unreal trials.”
Juventus was particularly irked by the misuse of their logo and name in certificates issued by Yadah Sports Academy.
Yadah Sports Academy has issued a sheepish apology for using Juventus’ name and logo without permission.
However, the academy remains silent on whether they will reimburse parents who paid for the fictitious trials.
Juventus representatives are also seeking answers about how Yadah obtained the logo and permission to use the Italian club’s name.
What Did Yadah Sports Academy Originally Say About The Juventus Trials?
“We are thrilled to announce that we will be hosting scouts from Italian giants Juventus from 26-30 August at Yadah Hotel. La Vecchia Signora (Old Lady) is the most decorated Italian club with 36 official league titles, 14 Coppa Italia trophies and nine Super Italia wins. We will also be hosting Spanish scouts at the same time,” Yadah Academy said in a statement.
“The first stage of trials will be happening from 4-5 August 2023 in different towns and cities across Zimbabwe. Afterwards, the camp with the Juventus scouts will be happening at Yadah Hotel from 26-30 August.”
The scandal has raised questions about the oversight exercised by authorities.
The Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) approved the so-called “Juventus Academy pre-trials” despite no official agreement with the Italian football club.
Parents are now questioning the diligence of relevant authorities in scrutinizing such claims made by Yadah FC.
Magaya’s New Narrative Involving ‘International Scouts’
In response to the scandal’s exposure, Prophet Magaya has revised his narrative to include “international scouts.”
This latest development leaves many wondering about the authenticity of Magaya’s claims and the future of Yadah Sports Academy.
Parents who fell victim to this fraudulent scheme are now demanding refunds, emphasizing the importance of honesty and integrity, especially when it involves the dreams and aspirations of young athletes.
The scandal has not only tarnished the reputation of Yadah Sports Academy but also raised questions about the responsibility of regulatory bodies in safeguarding the interests of aspiring athletes.
As this story unfolds, the spotlight remains on Prophet Magaya and his sports academy, awaiting answers to the questions raised by Juventus and the disappointed parents.
