Government has appointed Wistmer Investments, a company owned by Prophet Walter Magaya, to lead the overhaul of essential services in Chitungwiza, in a significant move to address Chitungwiza Municipality’s persistent service delivery challenges.
Wistmer Investments will manage crucial aspects of the municipality’s operations, including waste collection, sewer management, the regulation of settlement markets and businesses, and water supply.
Prophet Magaya assured Chitungwiza residents of a new era in service delivery, promising significant improvements. “Residents will soon experience a continuous flow of water and enhanced services,” he said. “My dedication to Chitungwiza is unwavering, and my passion for its development is rooted in my love for my hometown.”
Magaya dismissed any speculation that he intended to exploit the situation, emphasizing that his involvement was driven by a commitment to serve. “I am here to help, not to take advantage. Services will be affordable, and in some cases, free—especially for senior citizens, in line with government policy.”
Residents have responded positively to the news, expressing hope that years of neglect might finally come to an end. “We’ve been complaining about water and sewer issues for years, with no response from the council,” said Monica Moyo, a local resident. “We are eager to see Prophet Magaya’s plans come to fruition.”
Another resident, who wished to remain anonymous, criticized the municipality’s past mismanagement while praising the government’s decision to involve Prophet Magaya. “This is a noble initiative. We’ve suffered for too long under a council that lacks vision.”
Attempts to contact Chitungwiza Mayor Rosario Mangoma for comment were unsuccessful.
This development marks a significant shift in the government’s strategy for resolving Chitungwiza’s long-standing service delivery problems, bringing renewed hope to the community with Prophet Magaya’s involvement.
