THE National University of Science and Technology (Nust), which was embroiled in a farm boundary fence dispute with ex-Zipra senior commander Thomas Ngwenya in Plumtree, Matabeleland South province, has been acquitted. The State had alleged that between June and July this year, Nust employees damaged a boundary fence at Ngwenya’s Mzipha Farm.
Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware, however, acquitted the university due to lack of evidence. According to the State, Ngwenya visited his farm and discovered that its perimeter fence had been cut by Nust employees to create a through road. The matter was reported to the police, leading to Nust being taken to court. Initially, Ngwenya filed charges against the individuals who broke his fence, before he cited Nust.
