A maid in Harare’s upscale Borrowdale suburb is contesting her former boss’s refusal to pay her two years of salary, claiming she is a victim of s3xual exploitation.
Magumise Sherera alleges that her employer, Samuel Muchenjero, maintained that she was his wife and therefore ineligible for payment.
In a twist of events, Muchenjero has taken Sherera to the Harare Civil Court, seeking a peace order.
He claims that she has been threatening to use witchcraft against him in relation to her salary dispute.

“She has been threatening to use witchcraft on me, claiming that I owe her two years’ worth of salary,” Muchenjero stated as reported by H Metro.
“I am now scared, that’s why I had to seek the court’s protection.”
However, Sherera refutes Muchenjero’s claims, stating that he coerced her into a s3xual relationship under the premise of being married.
“My boss coerced me into a s3xual relationship, refusing to pay me my salary, claiming that I was his wife,” she explained. “He had promised to give me a monthly allowance but failed to follow through on his promise, and I was fine with it since we were in a relationship.”
Sherera further elaborated that their affair began shortly after she started working as a maid.
She has lived with Muchenjero as if they were married for two years, but he recently abandoned her for another maid. “I want him to pay me back for all the years he has slept with me. He used to say that I sleep when he sleeps, yet he does not sleep at night. I need to be rewarded for the abus3 he caused me,” she insisted.
In response to the proceedings, Magistrate Naratom granted Muchenjero a peace order and advised Sherera to pursue her claim in small claims court.
