A 27-year-old resident of Mabhidhi Village in Beitbridge has been charged with rap3 and indecent @ss@ult after allegedly @tt@cking a 14-year-old girl while traveling.
The case was presented in the Beitbridge Magistrates’ Court, as confirmed by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).
The alleged incident took place on December 23, 2024, as the girl and her parents were traveling from South Africa to Zimbabwe in a Toyota Hiace kombi.
The @ccused was also a passenger in the vehicle at the Beitbridge Border Post, where the situation unfolded.

While her parents were processing customs clearance, the girl remained in the parked kombi with the @ccused.
According to the NPA, the accused reportedly fondled the girl’s br3asts and then proceeded to insert his fingers into her pr!vate parts before r@ping her.
The @ss@ult was brought to light when the girl asked her mother to accompany her to the toilet to change her clothes.
Upon questioning her daughter about the sudden need to change, the mother learned of the horrific incident.
Following the disclosure, the complainant’s mother promptly reported the matter to the police at the Beitbridge border post, leading to the arrest of the accused individual.
The @ccused has been remanded in custody, with trial proceedings scheduled for January 10, 2025.
