A 60-year-old Ugandan man named Samuel Maikut was arrested after visiting his in-laws to ask for their daughter’s hand in marriage, but he didn’t bring the required dowry.
This incident happened in Bukwo District. Maikut had agreed to bring four cows and three goats, and his future in-laws had already spent about $1,200 to prepare for the ceremony.
However, when Maikut arrived late and empty-handed, the bride’s family was sh0cked and upset.

They confronted Maikut about why he didn’t follow through with the agreement, but he couldn’t explain himself well.
To prevent any violence, the local police were called, and Maikut was arrested.
Later, Maikut expressed regret about the situation and promised to pay the bride’s family for their losses. He mentioned that issues with his team had caused the problems, but he didn’t provide many details. “I am sorry for what happened, but I am ready to discuss compensation for the losses,” he said.
