A 31-year-old man from Karoi has been arrested for unlawful possession of ivory.
The arrest of Emmanuel Bikausaru from Bikausaru Village came to light after police officers from the CID department, acting on received information, pretended to be potential buyers of ivory and located the suspect at his homestead.
According to police reports, Bikausaru took two ivory tusks from his house and handed them over to the officers, leading to his arrest.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the arrest of Emmanuel Bikausaru on their X account.
“On 23/05/24, police in Karoi acted on received information and arrested Emmanuel Bikausaru (31) in connection with a case of possession of raw ivory without a permit in Bikausaru Village, Karoi,” the ZRP confirmed.
