Bvunzai Sichilimba, a 25-year-old man from Gokwe North, has been convicted and sentenced to 25 years in prison by the High Court sitting in Gokwe for the m_rder of a 59-year-old man following a viol3nt altercation.
The incident occurred on August 26 of the previous year when the deceased, accompanied by his wife after attending a traditional beer drink, encountered Sichilimba.
Claiming that there was an unresolved dispute between them, Sichilimba aggressively confronted the victim, seizing an empty beer bottle that he used to strike the man on the head.
The _ssault escalated as he punched and kicked the victim, causing significant injur!es.
Despite attempts by the victim’s wife to intervene and restrain Sichilimba, she was also subjected to violence during the confrontation.
Following the @ttack, the victim was rushed to a hospital for treatment and subsequently discharged, but his health continued to decline after returning home.
Tragically, the victim succumbed to his injuries on October 20, leading to the murder charges against Sichilimba.
The National Prosecution Authority of Zimbabwe has highlighted the gravity of the ass_ult, which not only affected the victim but also traumatized his wife in the process.
