In Zhombe, a recent tragic incident unfolded as a man lost his life in a fatal stabbing during a dispute over a 15-year-old girl. The police have initiated a manhunt for the alleged perpetrator, Themba Nyandeni, who went into hiding following the incident.
The Midlands provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, confirmed this disturbing incident, which occurred on a Sunday.
According to Mahoko, Enock Mugagwi (27) was in the company of a 15-year-old girl from Nhengure village, under the jurisdiction of Chief Malisa in Zhombe. They were on their way back from a soccer tournament held at Nhengure Primary School when they encountered Nyandeni.
Reportedly, the situation escalated rapidly when Nyandeni, a 25-year-old male, became incensed, suspecting that Mugagwi was expressing romantic interest in the same girl to whom he had also made advances.
In a sudden and violent turn of events, Nyandeni allegedly drew a knife from his pocket, stabbed Mugagwi once in the chest, and promptly fled the scene.
Tragically, Mugagwi succumbed to his injuries on the spot. Inspector Mahoko has called on the public to come forward with any information regarding Nyandeni’s whereabouts, urging them to report such information to the nearest police station.
