Police in Mutare are conducting an investigation into a tragic hit-and-run incident that resulted in the d3ath of an unidentified man on 22 September 2024.
The accident occurred around 5:00 AM at the 260-kilometer mark along the Harare–Mutare Road, specifically near the ZINWA water tanks.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing the victim on the road moments before the collision, but the motorist responsible for the accident failed to stop or render assistance, leaving the scene immediately after striking the pedestrian.
Emergency services were summoned, and the victim’s body was subsequently transported to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of d3ath.
Authorities are urging members of the public who may have witnessed the incident or have any information about the vehicle and the driver involved to come forward.
Such information could be invaluable in bringing the responsible party to justice and preventing similar accidents in the future.
