A 32-year-old foreign national has been arrested by Limpopo police in connection with the gruesome m_rder of a 34-year-old lady who is believed to be his ex-girlfriend.
The terrible m_rder took place on Saturday in Maepa Ramakgaye village, which is part of the Ohrigstad policing precinct.
According to police sources, the slain woman was discovered lying in a pool of blood in her RDP home.
Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, a Limpopo provincial police spokesperson, said she was discovered by her lover as he returned from Burgersfort.
“The 34-year-old deceased was found with multiple stab w0unds on the upper body. Upon further observation, it was discovered that the deceased’s handbag and cellphones were missing,” said Ledwaba.
Police and representatives of emergency medical services (EMS) were dispatched to the scene, and the woman was declared deceased upon their arrival.
Following the tragedy, police announced a large manhunt for the k!ller, and the former lover was caught on Monday about midnight.
“It was also discovered that the 32-year-old foreign national, the suspect was an illegal immigrant and was also charged with contravention of Immigration Act,” said Ledwaba.
“During the arrest, police also seized two cellphones belonging to the 34-year-old deceased female. The suspect will appear before the Ohrigstad periodical court to face charges of murder and contravention of Immigration Act.”
