In North West province, South Africa, a 62-year-old man, Daniel Mokwai, has been arr£sted for allegedly murd£ring three family members, including his own son, using pies laced with poison.
The tragic d£aths occurred over a three-year span, with the victims initially believed to have d¡ed of natural causes.
The police discovered the link to insurance fraud after Mokwai filed claims for all three deceased.
Pathology reports from exhumed bodies revealed poisoning, prompting a murd£r investigation.
The first victim, a 16-year-old relative of Mokwai’s wife, d¡ed on December 5, 2020, shortly after eating a pie given by Mokwai.

Another 16-year-old relative of his wife succumbed to the same fate on December 1, 2021, in Boitumelong township.
The third victim was Mokwai’s own son, Mothibi Alpheos Mokwai, 31, who d!ed on October 9, 2022.
Mokwai appeared in Bloemhof Magistrate’s Court and has been charged with three counts of murd£r.
He remains in custody pending legal representation.
The case came to light after suspicious family members reported Mokwai, noting a pattern of illness and d£ath following consumption of the pies.
