In a shocking incident that has left the community of Bulawayo in disbelief, a man was paraded naked and forced to dance in front of onlookers after he failed to repay a debt.
The humiliating ordeal unfolded at a local shop, leading to legal consequences for the perpetrator.
According to source, the incident began when Mitchel Shaba from Northend confronted Bothwell Chimbunde, who owed him money.
Chimbunde had borrowed US$50 from Shaba’s wife back in July. However, Chimbunde fell ill, was hospitalized for a month, and was discharged in August. Last month, he made a partial repayment of US$20.
This partial payment didn’t sit well with Shaba, who followed Chimbunde and accused him of non-payment.
In a fit of anger, Shaba physically assaulted Chimbunde with a belt and slapped him repeatedly. He then confiscated Chimbunde’s belongings, including his blanket, flash drive, health card, indemnity card.
The situation took an even more humiliating turn when Shaba ordered Chimbunde to strip naked and then forced him to march to the Northend shops. Once there, Shaba allegedly commanded Chimbunde to dance naked in front of shocked onlookers, including shoppers and patrons.
The incident was reported to the police by Chimbunde, resulting in the arrest of Mitchel Shaba.
He recently appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Temba Chimiso, facing charges of assault and kidnapping. Shaba was not asked to enter a plea and has been remanded out of custody until October 16.
