A WOMAN in the outskirts of Lusaka has been subjected to suppression in a marriage she thought would continue blossoming in holy matrimony after she was subjected to keep a human bush long enough to plait dreads with, in order to satisfy her husband’s insecurities.
The 33-year-old Lusaka wife of Katuba Peggy Changwe shocked the Matero Local court yesterday after she said she had not been able to shave her pubic hair for over a year because her ‘cheating’ estranged husband who always inspected her and accused her of infidelity each time he found the hair trimmed.
“Each time he goes away from home to his girlfriends and comes back, he always tells me to open my legs and inspect the growth of my hair. If it is short, he accuses me of adultery. He says he expects my hair to always be long to the extent where I can plait ‘Chikuti’ on it.”
Following her marital experience, Changwe took the matter to court so that maybe her pubic region could breathe during this hot season and to cut ties with her husband permanently.
She said her husband, Peter Banda, 41, who is a bricklayer, but also reportedly a professional home wrecker, as he dates married women, breaking their homes, and later snatches them away from their husbands.
The weary woman said that at some point, her husband of 17 years had attempted to burn her and their children in the house with his girlfriend, an incident that even left her eye sight almost damaged.
She went on to say, Banda’s adulterous skill has seen him running away from almost every Pentecostal church in Lusaka, as every papa prophesies to him about his home wrecking behaviour.
Changwe narrated to the court on how the marriage has even ended up affecting her Feminine hygiene as Banda does not allow her to shave her pubic hair without his permission, worse, if he is not even home.
“So even now, I have not been able to shave since the time he left me one year and a month ago,” she disclosed.
Changwe said despite his strictness, Banda always returns back home with a clean and smooth genital area, as clear as the head of rapper Tupac Shakur.
She added that for over a year now, Banda has abandoned her and their four children to live with his side chick in 15 miles area, causing him to fail to support his own offspring.
But when put on his defence, Banda who did not refute his wife’s statement said the only reason why he abandoned his matrimonial home a year ago was because his wife shaved without his permission in 2018 after she delivered their baby.
And in her submission, Changwe had this to say: “May peace be with you for leaving me almost blind when my parents gave birth to me well. Thank you for wasting my time and running away from us to another woman. May God bless you.”
Magistrate Lewis Mumba told Banda to be careful following the words uttered by his wife.
“This couple came for marriage reconciliation last week and it failed, the court then advised the aggrieved to sue for divorce. So the court has seen that this marriage cannot be sustained as it ended a long time ago”
“Divorce granted and court will order that defendant compensates plaintiff with K10,000 child custody given to the mother and shall be maintained with K800 monthly, subject to review yearly,” said Magistrate Lewis
