Blessing Manyange, the son of Bethsaida Apostolic church priest Fungayi Manyange, allegedly sold his girlfriend Charity Madare’s Honda Fit to pay lobola for his other girlfriend, Petronella.
Charity was devastated when she discovered that Blessing had sold her car, which she had given him to use for errands.
She confronted Blessing, demanding that he return everything she had given him during their relationship, including the car.
“I sold Charity’s vehicle and used the money,” Blessing confirmed. “She was disturbed when I separated from her and is now demanding every dollar she gave me, including that vehicle. She went on to confront my parents and my father agreed with her to pay the amount equivalent to the value of the vehicle.”
Charity told H-Metro that Blessing’s father, Priest Manyange, paid “a few dollars” as part of the settlement, but that she is still waiting for the rest of the payment. “What Blessing did to me is cruel and far from what we expect of a priest’s son,” she said. “Kutengesa mota yandakamuti imbowana chekufambisa kuti anoroora mumwe mukadzi.”
Priest Manyange acknowledged that he had intervened in the dispute and agreed to pay part of the debt in instalment However, Priest Manyange admitted that he has been facing financial problems since the introduction of ZIG notes and has struggled to honour his payments as promised.
Blessing also stated that Charity is now forcing him to repay everything he benefited from their relationship, including the car. “Arikuda kuti ndidzose mari dzose dzaaindibatsira nadzo,” he said, meaning “I am forced to repay everything I benefited from her.”
It appears that Blessing’s actions have caused tension not only with his former girlfriend but also with his own family. He has reportedly left the church congregation after Charity threatened to expose him in front of the congregation.
