A 29-year-old man, Blessing Matsvai, has appeared at the Harare Magistrates Court facing serious charges of attempted m_rder after allegedly att_cking his girlfriend and her companion.
Matsvai is accused of st_bbing both the complainants, Takuda Chitope, 24, and Linda Moyo, 31, in a vi0lent confrontation prompted by catching the two in bed together.
In a court session before Magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa, Matsvai entered a guilty plea to the charges of attempted m_rder. Following the plea, he was remanded in custody as the court proceeded with the necessary plea recording.
According to the State, represented by prosecutor Anesu Chirenje, the incident took place two Sundays ago when Matsvai entered a room and discovered Chitope and Moyo engaged in an int!mate act.
In a fit of rage, he allegedly @ttacked Chitope with a kitchen knife, inflicting severe w0unds. Reports indicate that Matsvai stabbed Chitope once below the right ear and once in the right collarbone, causing significant harm.
Not stopping there, Matsvai then turned his aggression towards Moyo, st_bbing her in the left collarbone before fleeing the scene. Both victims sustained deep lacerations that prompted them to seek medical attention.
Subsequently, on July 4, Chitope and Moyo reported the incident to the police, leading to Matsvai’s arrest.
The severity of the injuri!es and the nature of the crime have sparked public interest and concern regarding domestic vi0lence and the implications of such actions in intimate relationships.
The court proceedings will determine the next steps for Matsvai as the legal process continues.
