A bookkeeper, Kiritea Da Silva, 42, is accused of ste@ling $101,000 from her employer, Pan Cleaning Services Private Limited, and its subsidiaries.
She allegedly took the money between January last year and August this year, despite being entrusted with depositing it into the company’s bank account.
Da Silva, who resigned after the theft was discovered, appeared in court on Wednesday.
The company’s director, Patrick Andrew Walsh, reported the incident, stating that Da Silva’s duties included bookkeeping, cash receipting, and banking.
Investigations revealed that she misused the funds for personal gain. She faces charges related to the th3ft.
In other news, Granville Lloyd, a 32-year-old police officer in the Mid-South, has been indicted on charges of official misconduct and th3ft.
The indictment by the Hardeman County Grand Jury stems from an incident where Lloyd allegedly stole a toolbox from a seized vehicle.
The vehicle’s driver had been arrested for driving on a revoked license, and when he returned to the police station to collect his belongings, he noticed the toolbox was missing.
Surveillance footage revealed Lloyd removing the toolbox and taking it to his home, where it was later recovered. Lloyd was arrested and held on a $10,000 bond.
