Tawanda Gandiwa, a manager for an undisclosed betting company, has been brought before Harare Regional Magistrate Donald Ndirowei to face charges related to the alleged construction of an ill3gal structure in Chitungwiza.
Following the hearing, Gandiwa was remanded out of custody on a US$100 bail, with his next court appearance scheduled for July 11.
Prosecutor Lancelot Mutsokoti asserted that Gandiwa had allegedly constructed permanent structures in Zengeza 2 during the previous year, doing so without authorization from the Chitungwiza Municipality.
The court heard that he built the structure without a clearance certificate, plan approval and a certificate from building inspectors.
Gandiwa is charged with violating the Model Building Laws Act of the Harare City Council.
The structure was turned into a betting house.
