In a dramatic turn of events in Wellingara Coastal Road, Gambia, a married man with two children, Manlafy Danso, is under investigation for allegedly eloping with his landlord’s 20-year-old daughter.
Danso, originally from Niamina Sotokoi, reportedly disappeared with the young woman on Friday, May 3, 2024. The couple’s sudden vanishing act has prompted a widespread search, as the girl’s parents have filed a formal complaint against Danso.
The girl’s father expressed deep concern, claiming that Danso used dubious spiritual methods to influence his daughter.

“This situation feels anything but ordinary. He supposedly used some kind of spiritual manipulation on my daughter,” he said. “She had just finished memorizing the Holy Quran, and we were preparing a celebration for her achievement. Now, despite our exhaustive search, they remain missing. I suspect they might be hiding in a guest house. Danso has a known criminal record with the police.”
A family relative added, “Manlafy Danso is a dangerous criminal. He has essentially abducted our relative.”
The family is urging anyone with information about the pair’s whereabouts to contact local authorities immediately.
