Mathematicians recently undertook a fascinating analysis of the attempted assassination of Donald Trump, employing their mathematical expertise to delve deep into the improbabilities surrounding the incident.
Their investigation centered on a critical detail: the minute angle of error made by the shooter, which was a mere seven hundredths of a degree.
This slight miscalculation posed a significant challenge for any sniper aiming accurately at Trump from such a considerable distance.
As posted by X user, @Zlatti_71, to illustrate the difficulty, they first considered the anatomy involved—the distance from where the bullet was aimed near Trump’s ear to the vital center of his brain, which averages about 15 centimeters.
The shooter, positioned 120 meters away, faced an immense task in aligning such precise targeting over this vast span. Utilising trigonometric principles, the mathematicians meticulously computed that the shooter’s error angle translated to approximately 0.0716 degrees.

Despite their rigorous calculations, the mathematicians emphasized that real-world sh00ting scenarios are infinitely more complex than theoretical calculations. Factors such as wind speed, atmospheric conditions, and other environmental variables further exacerbate the challenge of achieving pinpoint accuracy over such distances.
In their comprehensive analysis, the mathematicians concluded that Trump’s survival from the assassination attempt was not due to flawless planning or execution on the part of the assailant. Instead, they attributed it largely to sheer luck. The incredibly narrow margin for error and the unpredictable nature of external conditions meant that even the slightest deviation could have altered the outcome dramatically.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump stated he feels “saved by luck or God” following an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania. In a recent interview, Trump expressed his belief that his timely head turn saved him from a bullet that grazed his ear, which could have been fatal. Reflecting on the incident, he said, “I’m supposed to be dead.” The attack resulted in the d3ath of a spectator and serious injuries to two others. The gunman, identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, also di3d during the incident.
