Zimbabwean Maud Chifamba continues to bring pride to her country as she joins the Goldman Sachs TMT Investment Banking team in New York. In a statement, she expressed her gratitude for receiving the $75,000 Goldman Sachs MBA Award.
Chifamba reflected on her remarkable journey, highlighting her beginnings in Zimbabwe, where she attended a school with no desks and only three teachers for seven classes. She recounted her path from Deloitte to Wharton, and now to Wall Street, attributing her success to the grace of God.
In 2007, Chifamba was named the best student in Zimbabwe’s Midlands Province under the most severe conditions. In 2005, when in Grade 3, she was erroneously given a Grade 4 exam paper and received a perfect grade. Later that year, she requested a Grade 5 test paper and received the highest mark. She moved to Grade 7 and got four units.
Due to budgetary restrictions, Chifamba was homeschooled for her Ordinary Level exams, which she finished in under two years in 2009. The Ministry of Education later found her and gave financial aid for her Advanced Level studies, which she completed with a score of 12 in 2011. Chifamba was awarded a $9,993 scholarship by the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority after garnering international recognition.
In 2013, Chifamba graduated with distinctions from the University of Zimbabwe, where she pursued a Bachelor of Accountancy Honours degree. She had written her Grade 7 examination at the age of 10 and her A-level at the age of 13. Chifamba’s achievements continue to inspire many as she reaches new heights in her career.
