A member of the Zimbabwe National Army Arnold Nyoni (29) was dragged to Plumtree magistrates courts today after he allegedly robbed a pedestrian of his US$ 90.
Nyoni appeared before Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware and was granted $50 000 bail.
The state led by Anorld Mudekunye alleged on August 4 around 4 am Nyoni pounced on Alphonse Nkomo (35) who was walking on a footpath and attacked him from behind.
Nkomo tried to resist but was over powered and the suspect forcibly took a wallet containing $90 before vanishing.Nyoni made his investigations and was told that the robber was a soldier at 1.3 infatanry battalion, Plumtree.
The complainant went to the Battalion and spotted the accused.He filed a police report leading to Nyoni’s arrest.
The matter continues on August 18.
