The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of five suspects in connection with a mu_rder case that occurred in Wedza, shedding light on the vi0lent nature of the incident.
The suspects, identified as Peter Mandeya (65), Simbarashe Mandeya (40), Felix Chigodora (24), Brain Mandeya (21), and Munashe Chigodora (25), are accused of brutally @ssaulting 37-year-old Cadilla Njodzi, a known mental patient.
This vicious @ttack took place on July 30 2024, at Peter Mandeya’s residence in Chihowa Village, Svosve, after Njodzi allegedly caused damage by destroying a wooden door and a rear mirror of a Nissan Hardbody vehicle.
Enraged by the destruction, the suspects reportedly used switches and their booted feet to inflict severe inj_ries all over Njodzi’s body.
Despite being rushed to a local hospital for treatment, the victim succumbed to his injuries on July 31 2024, leading to the suspects’ arrest.
The case has sparked outrage within the community and underscores the urgent need for better handling of individuals with mental health issues.
