A mine in Filabusi, Matebeleland South Province is counting loses after a seven-man gang pounced the premises before stealing 250kg of gold carbon worth US$22 400 last week. The assailants initially att@cked a security guards on duty before breaking into a carbon room.
In a statement, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident that occurred on 27th of December 2024 at around 2300 hours.
“Police in Gwanda are investigating a case of robbery which occurred at a mine in Filabusi on 27/12/24 at around 2300 hours. Seven unidentified male suspects who were armed with machetes and logs att@cked three security guards who were on duty before breaking into a carbon room where they stole 250kgs of gold carbon valued at US$22 400.00,” Nyati said.
Currently, ZRP in Gwanda have launched a manhunt for the robbers and appeals to anyone with information to come forward.
“Anyone with information to report at any nearest Police Station,” Commissioner Paul Nyati added.
Gold carborn robbery in Filabusi comes just seven days after the Zimbabwe Republic police confirmed the same incident of gold carbon robbery in Bundura where eight armed robbers pounced a mine before ste@ling 550Kgs of gold carbon worth US$36 000.
