The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has given the green light to schools to conduct vacation school during the August holidays for examination classes.
This decision is aimed at providing students with additional academic support and preparation for their upcoming exams.
According to the ministry, the fees for the vacation school will vary depending on the grade level of the students.
For Grade 7 students, the fee will be $2, while Form 4 students will pay $3 and Form 6 students will pay $5. In addition, boarders will be required to pay an extra $4 per day.
Despite pegging the fees in US dollars, the ministry has given parents the flexibility to pay in any currency they prefer.
This decision is expected to make it easier for parents to budget for their children’s education, especially those who do not have access to foreign currency.
The vacation school is expected to provide students with a chance to review and reinforce their knowledge, as well as receive additional guidance from teachers.
With the extra support, students are expected to perform better in their exams and achieve their academic goals.
