The construction of Holy-Cross Dam will benefit thousands of villagers in Mvuma and Chirumhanzu since they can venture into irrigation farming and horticultural production.
The dam has so far provided irrigation for 200 hectares of land.
Of the 200 hectares, 180ha cover winter and summer crops, while 20ha are for horticultural production. In addition to maize and soybean, horticultural crops such as tomatoes and onions will be grown to bridge the income gap and ensure sustained livelihoods for the community.
