President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has today signed the book of condolences for the Late Former President of Namibia Cde Sam Nujoma at the Namibian Embassy in Harare. The late former Namibian President, Cde Sam Nujoma passed away on the 8th of February 2025.
He d!ed at the age of 95.
Nick Mangwana, the Permanent Secretary for Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services has confirmed on his X (formerly known as twitter).
“This morning, His Excellency President @edmnangagwa signed the book of condolences for the Late Former President of Namibia Cde Sam Nujoma at the Namibian Embassy in Harare. Cde Nujoma passed away on the 8th of February 2025. He was 95,” Nick Managwana confirmed.
Sam Nujoma, the activist and guerrilla leader who became Namibia’s first democratically elected president after it won its independence from apartheid South Africa.
Nujoma rose to head the thinly populated southern African country on March 21, 1990 and was formally recognised as “Founding Father of the Namibian Nation” through a 2005 Act of Parliament.
Nujoma served his three terms as president from 1990 to 2005 and sought to project himself as a unifying leader bridging political divides.
