DStv channel Moja Love has explained why it fired Sizok’thola host Xolani Khumalo after months of controversial drama.
Yesterday, Moja Love TV terminated its relationship with Xolani Khumalo, the presenter of the channel’s popular drug-busting show, Sizok’thola. Initially, the channel did not give any reasons for the decision. Khumalo was charged with murder for allegedly torturing a suspected drug dealer to death while filming in Katlehong in July.
Xolani, through his Xolani Khumalo Foundation, expressed shock over Moja Love’s statement. He revealed that he also found out on Friday as the channel did not communicate the decision with him.
“They wanted me to dissolve the Xolani Khumalo Foundation. I said I don’t have a problem with dissolving it, but my problem is that I have employees. I asked them if they would employ those people if I dissolved it, and they never responded until I saw the statement today [that I had been fired].”

The channel has clarified why it showed Xolani the exit door. In a response to Xolani Khumalo’s statement, Moja Love said:
“The channel elected not to continue with Mr Khumalo after raising concerns and questioning him about his knowledge and involvement in unlawful in the unlawful incidents that led to the possible contamination of crime scenes, failed prosecution of known drug lords and unfortunate tragedies that followed the filming of certain episodes.
“The channel also demanded answers regarding the identities of the beneficiaries of his foundation – the Xolani Khumalo Foundation -which he launched off the back of Sizok’thola’s success, despite the blatant conflict of interest it created between him and the show.
“Moja Love TV has always been cautious to ensure that it abides by the strict letter of the law. To this end, the channel continues to work closely with the South African Police Service to ensure that no person enriches themselves from the proceeds of crimes which are perpetuated by greedy individuals masquerading as non-profit organisations.”
